Maximilian Mayrhofer, owner of Mayrhofer GmbH & Co. KG, is extremely impressed by the innovative warehouse management system from PPG: In October 2022, Collision Services Inventory was implemented in the Bodywork and paint shop in Burghausen, Germany, and he has already fully exploited its strengths. “We mainly work for claims controller and insurance companies, and we offer a full damage service with mechanics, bodywork and paintwork under one roof – and we pride ourselves that we are an innovative company always striving to improve.

Maximilian Mayrhofer says, who took over the family business from his father in 2010. “It’s clear for us: In order to be competitive and successful in the long term, you need lean, efficient processes, future-oriented technologies and smart investments – working with such a revolutionary tool as Collision Services Inventory is a matter of course for us."

Perfectly fitting instead of too much or too little: Inventory has the overview   

The entrepreneur, whose team currently consists of 25 employees from trainees to management, enjoys the systems automatic order management: After recording the current stock during the implementation phase, the tool automatically reorders paint materials as soon as the stocked items are used.

“That’s a real time-saving and ensures stock levels are always correct: Overstocking, Running out of stock, Incorrect orders and surplus materials are all things of the past thanks to Inventory” Maximilian Mayrhofer explains.

“Instead we always have sufficient quantities of the materials required on site, we no longer have to place orders ourselves and always have an up to date overview of the current stock. This is very helpful and has allowed us to reduce our stocks significantly. All in all, the tool saves time and costs.”     

 

The warehouse clean, lean, organized? No problem!

In addition, the trained coachbuilder, whose grandfather founded the bodywork and paint shop in 1948, is enthusiastic about the new efficiency in terms of storage coming with Inventory: Maximilian Mayrhofer and his team used the system implementation to thoroughly sort and renovate the old warehouse, and were able to minimize the pure storage area, too. “Cleaning up here really felt like a liberation”, the business owner says. “Since we started working with Inventory, we have more order, more cleanliness, more overview: The warehouse is now smaller and really well organized. There is no tiresome searching anymore, instead of that containers are quickly at hand. In addition, we no longer have any unusable material that has to be discarded because it was overlooked. We also save time here and thus costs – and it also looks very good!”

Of course, this also has a positive effect on the repair process, reduces process times and increases throughput – another advantage for the bodywork and paint shop. “Furthermore, working with such a forward-looking system also creates quality awareness among the employees, and in combination with a modern look, it has a positive effect on potential new employees, too – a big plus for every company in times of a shortage of skilled workers”, Maximilian Mayrhofer says. “My conclusion: Inventory is not just a warehouse management system, but a well thought-out overall concept that saves money when used consistently – anything else is stone age!"
